I Miss Super Joe (and will for some time unfortunately, unless i pitch down for a Fathead)

This season is starting to slip away.

Not sure what to say...the D has not helped out the goaltender enough, offensive flurries don't produce as much as they should, our powerplay flat sucks, and we seem to get either a good start and blow it, or make a nice comeback (like tonight) only to lose. Losing to the Kings on Saturday sucked bad. (just ask the Ive...or Jose, in a rare start) but 1 point total in two games against the Coyotes is a fucking embarrassment for an Avs team - that for awhile, acted like they were going to contend in the NW.

Close games (if you don't count all the empty netters piling up and skewing the final scores) getting away....are mighty disconcerting.

TD and I were at the Kings game on Saturday, and it seemed like a game that should have been easy (the Kings used to suck!...what a difference a week makes), and even with a mere 1 goal lead after 2 periods it appeared like a game that the Avs were destined to win.

Nah...

Agreed on the nature of the rapid fire posting. I even checked before posting mine! Guess I am a little quicker at venting. But, like you said, with the posting drought as of late, maybe having a smorasgborg (sp?) of posts at once is a good thing.

Another irony, I thought about looking for a Sakic Fathead for my post, but figured no one would make such a thing for the NHL....Did you see that Denver was ranked 4th in the nation ratings-wise for the "Winter Classic"?

On a positive note, I did notice in the paper we are only 3 points out of first place. On a bad note, I notice Vancouver probably has a couple games in hand and we are now in 4th in the NW, having fallen behind the Flames. Maybe the Sakic Fathead needs to hold a players-only meeting before Sat's game.

I was probably the only person in Houston watching any of the winter classic at home! I wish I could contribute to the Avs conversation but the only hockey I see is on Versus and considering their national game last night was Carolina vs. Atlanta you probably get my point. It appears without Sakic for an extended period of time, along with the inconsistency in goal and the mounting injuries just making the playoffs may be a success this season. I was able to peep a little of the Dallas/Detroit game. Detroit looks pretty damn good with a lot of young talent and most of all consistency in net. At least we have the Nuggets, on some nights! Spring Training? I'm looking at being in Vegas for the 1st 2 days of the NCAA tourney in late March, any takers????

Still planning on a spring training visit. Probably midweek around March 10. And then maybe driving to vegas from there. I don't like!

Astute observations on the Avs, Riggins, considering you cannot watch the games. Apparently all you need to do is read KTH to get educated.

The Winter Classic was pretty fun to watch for some reason; I guess there talking about doing more than one next year (as it had higher ratings than the Stanley Cup)... Sidney Crosby is quite nasty.

Agreed with everone with the Avs struggles, frustrating to watch. We need to make a big move before the trade deadline... Blake?

I see Smyth is out 8 weeks. It's survival time until March. Stay in the hunt boys. Hejduk, Stastny, Wolski, and Brunette need to pick up the slack and Svatos needs to stay hot. And the defense really needs step it up and keep these games tight. Is that too much to ask?

Sakic? now Smyth?
Can Ricci come out of retirement?
Kurri? Konawalchuk? Help?

Staying out of the penalty box would have to be another demand. Not that we're in there a ton, but we seem to get burned when we are.

Yes, Svatos' tripping call with a few minutes to go really sucked last night. But, he did score the only goals, so it's hard to be too pissed at him.

If it wasn't so late and if I'd seen the game, I would throw a post on about the rare Nuggs win over the damn Spurs. Fucking-A Right!!

I would love to get really fired up after the Nuggs win last night but as soon as that happens they will go in a lose to a bad Minnesota team. Our Denver sports teams all seem to have the same theme these days, "win one you maybe shouldn't and lose one you probably shouldn't"! That probably explains the .500 records, although the Nuggs are in first and are finally healthy so we'll see, Fuckin'-A!!
