Van Wilder Goes Wild

Van Wild....I mean Sam Bradford further adds to Broncos embarrassment by completely having his way with Broncos' defense. Familiar no pass rush, no forced turnovers, inability to cover the quick slant, etc...Meanwhile, the offense was almost a carbon copy of the SD game for the first three quarters. Great start in the first quarter and then a nose dive (which didn't help the struggling defense). Making matters worse, we coughed it up a couple of times at key times. While a furious comeback in the 4th quarter made it somewhat interesting to watch down the stretch, you never had the feeling there was a legit chance. Completely sucking for two quarters of the game has a tendency to do that. Combine this home loss with a nice game for Cutler (he's really turned into a great game manager), and chalk this up as another shitty Sunday in the NFL. At least the Raiders lost I guess. While I cannot help myself but root for the B'cos, it's clear the number one overall pick is in our sights. Can't imagine it will be the present coach making that selection though....

Damn. Agreed on every point...game got interesting, but never felt like they would win. As Lynch or Pitts constantly noted on the slant, "that's been there all day" or "just a simple pitch and catch".
Defense is simply horrible. Moreno is a fumbling machine. The Broncos are something of a major embarrassment right about now.
And yes, Cutler's game yesterday was a drag to hear about.
I don't like the NFL much...

Andre Johnson going hockey fight on Finnegan was incredible. We need the NFL to have more of that, at least when the Broncos suck. Question is how much more can Bowlen take from this young punk? He has set the franchise back how many years with the past 2 drafts? His personnel moves have been absolutely atrocious!

I would say McD's personnel moves are no more questionable and/or resulted in worse results than many of Shanny's in his later years (not exactly a ringing endorsement, mind you). Even though he's played better lately, I still don't quibble much with unloading Cuntler. Orton has been at least as good on field and way more tolerable in other respects. Ditto B-Marsh for B-Lloyd. I surmise the team is pretty much just where it was when Shanny was canned. No defense, an inconsistent offense (yes, our offense did maybe move the ball more before, but seldom put up large amounts of points), and shitty special teams. Whereas Shanny consistently drafted defensive busts to go along with a few offensive gems, McD pretty much hasn't drafted defensively at all (very unwise). The jury is probably still out somewhat on the offensive picks.

And as I recall, McD came on the cheap, which has been Bowlen's MO for a number of years now. For that reason, I'm not convinced the young punk will be canned anytime soon, or at least midseason. Could be wrong about that though...

I think Cutler's record is largely a result of good D and good special teams. I guess he's improved this year by not turning the ball over as much; that usually helps.

I think it's pretty obvious McD's effort to improve our D has been a joke, and a large reason why the Broncos suck. Floating McDaniels heads everywhere should be nervous.

Yes, this defense looks oh so similar to the defense before he got here. And now it's older. Elvis' season in '09 aside, when is the last time the B'cos had any legit pass rusher? Simon Fletcher? Am I forgetting somebody. I guess Trevor Pryce, maybe?

As I said in my post, Cuntler is now an effective Game Manager that does just enough to not screw it up, while his good D and special teams do the rest. Yesterday game aside (which was really shocking to me), the Bears have had a really easy schedule it seems. Will be interesting to see how they do in December. Hasn't been Cuntler's strongest month in years past.

Agreed Trout Dog. My main point being he has done nothing to help on the defensive side yet revamped the entire offense and has nothing to really show for it. Hence my comment on the draft picks. I think the 2 WR's and offensive lineman will be solid but without a defense of any sort, so what.

The biggest problem Bowlen has is that he still owes Shanny in 2011 and would have to also then pay out McD plus a new coach. Probably safe bet to say he will be around until next week when they get blown out by KC. You know it's coming.

Cutler success this season is totally attributed to fewer turnovers and a better defense but then again so are most good/great NFL QB's. I love Orton and he is a perfect fit in this offense.

Not that it means anything but the owner says that he'll be back next year.
I think I see two nosebleed season tickets up for grabs.

I thought Bowlen got off the hook for Shanny when he got hired by Danny Boy? (Jeez, Riggins you're getting it from both of your franchises...the Redskins have been a disgrace at a higher level and for longer than the Broncos) But maybe that ain't the case and the Shanahan firing was not taken off the future books with his rehire in D.C. If that's the case, then we will see more Josh than what would logically be allowed. Damn, DT you need to make some new heads float.

The franchise is a colossal drag right now. There seems to be little hope for the near future. I think things were in a state of near shambles when Josh McD took over but he has done nothing really besides complete the downward arc.
I was, and still am for the Cutler jettison. We could have gotten better returns though with the drafts that were part of that deal. I do however prefer Orton in the one-for-one piece of that deal.
As much as I want to den the whole "I can't believe we got rid of Hillis!!" talk that has been so rampant, there's no way around the fact that we could use him more than fucking Brady Quinn. Hard to argue right about now.

Last game was the lowest attendance since the switch to Invesco I read...bad time to look to unload those precarious nosebleeds of yours Kids, Push Trikes, and whatnot.

You did choose the right time to jump off that Raiders band wagon you supposedly boarded though.

Ryan Reynolds soon will be known for one role.... not Billy from Fifteen or Berg from "Two Guys and a Girl".... rather as the Emerald Avenger, the Green Lantern, Hal Jordan! Coming soon to theaters near you!

The GL movie will be my first cinema-attended movie in several years.

Yeah, I wasn't real upset to see Hillis exit at the time and thought his worth was largely part of the overly-imaginative 'we love any decent white player' psyche that most american sports fans have, but maybe he is the real deal. The trade looks awful at this point.

The former drummer of Teenagers in Love has really gone on to a deep and varied career. And his drum lines were s-s-s-sick.....

The Redskins haven't been one of my franchise's since Theisman broke his leg.
