Not atop the Northwest any longer...

I don't like these teams...I wish they wouldn't win any more hockey games. (WTF, Do I need to add the freaking Oilers to this list too? They just ended the Sharks 11 game win streak tonight and are actually looming in the NW cellar)
Viva the Northwest....the best division in hockey.

My guess is that the 1st place slot in the NW is going to be switching quite a bit the next few weeks. Avs only play NW foes from here on out. Big game this evening in St Paul. Forsberg and Foote are expected to play. Keeping those two healthy will be key down the stretch.

Tough loss tonight for the Avs....loads of chances in the 3rd but couldn't seem to get a bounce. Forsberg looked good in his return. Need to get him and Smyth going down the stretch. The playoff math looks a lot less attractive than it did a few days ago...

yes. the chances were there but Backstrom is both good and lucky.

...and unfortunately, the math is indeed not so favorable after a couple games with no points. less games left on the sked too for the Avs compared to their NW division compadres.

didn't take long to slide from 1st to 4th.

It's going to be a roller coaster these next couple of weeks. Can't get too high or too low, unless we suffer more losses in a row. Still have a decent cushion to make it into the playoffs and a fevored run against division foes would likely put us at the top of the NW still. Need to rebound in Calgary on Thursday.
