FOPPA: Bringing It All Back Home
It came as quite of a surprise to hear that Peter the Great signed with the Avs for the remainder of the season. Of course I'm happy to hear the news. It kind of warms the heart to know that Peter chose the Avs over other teams that I'm sure were willing to take a chance at the one time MVP. However, I think my joy would be more pronounced if the sting of last night's playoff bed-shitting loss to the Crude wasn't still fresh in my memory. I might also get more excited if the Avs announce the signing of a burly defensemen to replace the obvious deficiency on the blue line with the losses of Clark and Finger. However, this move on its own doesn't make me think we still only have an outside chance of getting into the playoffs. All of that said.....
While Forsberg's health is still an obvious question mark, let us not forget that 2002 playoff run after Peter missed almost the entire regular season recovering from a ruptured spleen, only to end up leading all playoff scorers. If the Avs make a couple of more moves, along with return of Sakic and the addition of Forsberg, things could get interesting. First things first. The Avs desperately need to get at least 3 points out of the next two game in Calgary and Vancouver.......Welcome home Peter.

The even crazier thing about that return from injury at playoff time in 01-02, was that he led all playoff scorers with out even playing in the Cup Finals. (ousted by the Wings in 7 in the West Finals)
Here's hoping for a spark, any spark. His signing was pretty low risk, as it is only for this year, at a prorated 1mil, and there were no younger players sacrificed for the signing.
Would be awesome if this turns out to be a difference maker in making the playoffs....
I've got two games left for the season, so I gotta say it's kind of cool to know that I'll get to see Peter and Sakic skate together a couple of more times in my life (assuming they're both healthy).
Wonder who his linemates will be. I seem to remember the Duke really flourishing with Peter on the ice.
All seems quiet for now on the Avs' trade deadline front. A defenseman would be nice.
Neifi Perez coming back to the Rocks?
Not so quiet...Skrastins to FLA for Ruslan Salei.
a defensemen swap.
whaa? now Foote is back?
who's next? Borque?
God, I doubt Borque, but an aged Blake doesn't seem out of the question at this point. We just got a lot meaner on defense.
I'm thinking a Forsberg, Svatos, Duke line would be good.
i've been hipping myself to this Salei dude. sounds like a big, bruising tough defenseman.
I've always rather liked Karlis Scratchnitchins, but all he seems to be good at is sliding down to block shots.
hopefully it's an upgrade.
Skratchininins had been a healthy scratch (no pun intended) quite a bit recently. I like him too, but I gotta think this is a good move.
kinda bummed my tickets to attend games have dwindled at this point in the season.
I actually have two games left.....a canucks game and a devils game. And I did send in for the playoff tix a couple of weeks ago....
C'mon Avs!! This PP is killing us. Not only do we not score on it, but now we're giving up shorties. BLAHH!!!
