Another Double Header Evening

God, I hope this picture is somehow fake. No fooling that for the second night out of the last 3, both the Avs and Nuggets are on the tube with nicely-staggered start times. The Nugs have made a nice 2nd half comeback to tighten things up after doing their best Washington Generals impersonation on defense during the 2nd quarter. They do that a lot I've noticed.

Meanwhile, the Avs play one of the most hard-working periods I've seen of late, but only lead the Sharks 1-0 going into the 2nd. The way they dominated, they should have more to show for it. Theo is back in the pipes, but has only had to turn away a few shots. If the Avs maintain the intensity, I like their chance to snag a huge road win. Lots of pucks to play still.

Might want to also mention the Buffs (my Buffs?) signed the top RB recruit in the country today. Face Longhorns!

Melo just had a chance to win the game with a WIDE OPEN mid-range jumper and missed. OT.

nug pups mighty chokey.

God knows they had their chances. I guess they don't want that first place scholarship.

Avs, not so chokey.

Great! Now I won't be able to get this demonic picture out of my head.

That Nugs game should have been won in regulation. They blew it (as you two have already pointed out).

my buffs?

Hawk's Buffs are going to be nasty. Great article in the NY Times about Scott turning down UT because he did not have a relationship with Major Applewhite. Nothing wrong with going 6-7 and bringing in a 5-star and 2 4-star recruits from your own backyard!
Love my Avs battling without their stars. Sorry but the Nuggs don't have a prayer in the West even if they win their division.

That was a huge win for the Avs last night. Did anyone hear the comment from Haynes that when Forsberg said he was turning down signing with the Wings, it was because he would feel like a traitor. Awesome. Not sure how much he has in the tank, but if we have cap room, why not bring him back?

Also read that Smith might come back a little early and Sakic is chomping at the bit to return. While the team is clearly not playoff ready right now, the young'ins are keeping the team in contention. My main man Hensick?

I agree Riggins on the Nugs. They pretty much take at least one quarter off per game on defense and the glass.

That's Smyth, Al.

riggins, that nugs observation is painfully true.
and that game last night was painful to watch...
