Where Is My Head At?

I am in a tough spot right now. It’s truly one of those “good” problems to have, but a quandary, nonetheless. All six or so of you that regularly read this intro-venture into the world of sports-blogging know how I feel about baseball, specifically, Major League Baseball. I love most other forms of the game; with a distinct appreciation for the Little League variety. While my positive feelings about that game grow out of the expanded strike zones and shorter games, rather than the youthful, innocent exuberance that ESPN likes to shove down our throats during their month-long love fest with the youngins.

This year I have watched more innings of televised baseball than the last five years combined. I have enjoyed “the voices of summer” on my midweek trips around the state (Hey, Bud, make MOST games Business Man Specials.) And I have surely watched more crap on the tube about the playoffs than ever before. In years past, I was the guy shouting about why there weren’t more NFL spots on Cold Pizza. Now, I am praying for another (to steal one of Hurdle’s gems) skinny little guy “who never played the game” to doubt the Pet Rocks. For some reason, most of them, just today, have given the Cubs (despite going home) less of a chance to come back in their series with Arizona than the Phillies (traveling to Denver) do. Curious. The Snakes’ reputation must be proceeding itself?
And so much was made about the ineptitude of the top of the line-up in game 1. Unfortunately for Philly fan, their big hitters came correct in game 2 (to the tune of a couple jacks, two hits a piece, and all of their RBIs) but they still got doubled-up, 10-5.

All of these points aside, I can’t totally sell out and fall head over heels in love with the Rockies. For the better part of the past two decades, I have been in love with the Broncos, Avs, and Nuggets. I have tolerated the Rockies. The switch ain’t that easy to flip.

Yes, I am bummed that today is an off-day in the series, and not another BMS. But, I am still more excited about the Charger game, as well as my first venture to the Can, to see the Avs take on one of the league’ s elite in San Jose (might be the wee one’s first hockey game.)

So with that, I feel expunged. My support is with the Rockies, full-force, but the real problem I am facing this weekend has nothing to do with whether Ubaldo can keep the Phillies’ bats quiet, but rather, can Selvyn Young be the man?

Hey, this site obviously needs someone to pick up the broncos/avs/nuggs blogging slack. (No broncos recap last week...WTF?!?!)

Youngbear, does this mean you don't want to go sat night??

It will be interesting to see which Broncos players on the field on Sunday. Word is that Javon Walker will sit out and take advantage of next weeks bye and give his knee time to heal. Henry has appealed, meaning he might still be able to play, unless he is still hurt. Lynch is practicing, so hopefully he will be a go.

San Diego is struggling, but not having our #1 WR and RB could really hurt. Or, guys like Young and Marshall step up and shine.

I for one would love to put the Chargers farther into the hole!

By the way... much props to the Rocks. No... not for winning... but for deciding to donate a full share of playoff earnings to Mike Coolbaughs widow. That makes me more proud to be a Rockies fan than making the playoffs does... well done guys.

yeah. the broncos rb situation is pretty weird about now. as the SG said in his NFL rankings today (Broncos at #23...oh how the mighty have fallen), anyone purchasing/wearing a Henry jersey right now is making a bold statement: "I love pot, and I love sex"

agreed, good capt, the share to the widow was a great move.
another reason to root for the Rox to get deep in the postseason as the share will increase.
hell, i think it would be good idea to go on and win the WS.

Sammy, I am going on to nfl.com to personalize a #20 jersey to say just that!

TDog, I am surprisingly enough, going to have to pass. I appreciate the thought.

Sorry, no Broncos stuff, seeing as how you guys have some sort of exclusive licensing agreement with MLB.

It would appear that there was a licensing agreement in place with the Colorado Rockies and MLB.

How can you not fall head over heels for this team??? Young pro athletes busting their butts for each other. Helton toiling in Denver his whole career just waiting for this moment. And then I hear this morning the players decided to give half of their playoff check, no matter what amount that turns out to be, to the family of the minor league coach of the Oklahoma Drillers who was killed by a line drive about a month ago! After not living in Denver for almost 4 years now with my only information on the Rockies being you guys, the Denver Post, and the occassional Sportscenter highlight when a player from another team tries to fight an umpire, watching MY Rockies in the playoffs on national television has been nothing short of exhilarating! I can't wait for tomorrow night!! Go Broncos...this week could make or break their season especially losing Henry for the season.

Can I have Young Bear's ticket??

If you hop in the car and start driving right now you can have it!

I saw that 'less of a chance to win' BS on ESPN today too. Don't those clowns know that the Rockies never lose anymore?
