Start O' the Streak

Please behold, the ticket given to me by Troutdog; surrendered in favour of attending the Broncos/Raiders game that fateful afternoon back in September. Granted the Broncos did win that game....may be the last for quite some time actually, and could be a collectable ticket in its own right.
But picture if you will...a lone nerd in the right field stands above the scoreboard, casually sipping on some stadium brews, cracking some nuts...thinking this is likely the last game he would attend this season due to the hopeless dire straits the Rox were currently in.
Then flashforward to a random business man's special-Dodgers doubleheader in "Lauren" seats a couple days later, heavily hung-over, from a dose of Pure Country Gold (and afterparty)
....C'mon Super Gallegos! Need I say more?
Oh, then of course the Pads play-in game. That one was kind of good.
Phils game 3 clincher a week ago Saturday here in Denver was a pretty nice game too....
Been relegated to the couch for these Coors Field D-Backs games...but the Rox fever is high, and the reality that the Rox are (and were) relevant is still a bit stunning.
Let this shit continue....

Let us not forget those were free tickets, with the purchase of 3 packs of baseball cards at participating Rockies Dugout Stores.

I'm still in disbelief that the Rocks, my Rocks, OUR Rocks are in the Fall Classic!!

My only regret is only getting tickets to home games 1 and 3 for the NLCS. I should've known a sweep was inevitable.

Deathtruck - I also noticed the spattering of Boos for the Monforts as well. They're better be some checkbooks open this offseason!

I too noticed the "Boos" for the Monforts at around 1 am CST. Actually, I joined in! Then giving O'Dowd all of this credit for the building of this team. How much did Hampton make this year on the Rockies' dime? I now need the Red Sox to win to guarantee a ticket to the Fall Classic. My brother-in-law has tickets for every round at Fenway and the open invite has been on the table all summer IF both teams make it to the Fall Classic! Rockies/World Series?? Someone pinch me. See you all this weekend as I join in the pre-Classic festivities!

I like trips to Fenway too, you know?!?! Thanks for inviting me!

A lot of credit should go to the Rockies scouts... drafting Tulo, Seth Smith, Holliday and finding Latin gems like Jimenez and Morales is why this team is in the World Series.

I hope Das Boot can take a page out of the Rockies books and sweep our way to Championship!

or least get drunk trying...

can we get free World Series tickets for purchasing 3 packs of baseball cards?
on a similar note....
what was Holiday's post-game quote?
"Holy Crap! We're going to the World Series!"

Do we really have to wait until next Wed for the Rockies to play again? I'm jonesing for more already!

NL Pennant baby!!

I've heard the Holy Crap quote quite a few times this morning on the FAN. Pretty awesome sound bite and it really sums things up nicely.

Re: World Series tickets, I'm thinking a trip to the Greeley Dugout store might be in order. Unless the Monforts have thousands of relatives in the area, I'm guessing the lottery odds might be a little better up there.

Forget the lottery... just make sure you are on a high speed internet connection at 9:59am. I'm guessing there will be 1,000 tickets sold online by the time the first lottery winner picks his seats and reaches for the wallet.

You may be right about that. Seems hard to believe that someone across the globe has an equal shot of getting tickets compared to someone in Denver, but that might be the case.

Speaking of Holy Crap this article by Jayson Stark is pretty amazing.

Get lost in all the action and forget what these guys have had to overcome!!

damn. this evening's ESPN Baseball Tonight highlight montage of the Rockies run that begins with Helton's 300th homer in that Sunday Marlins game up through last night put a goddam lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. I'm not kidding....

Riggins said...

A tear, I had to use a kleenex! "This aint intramurals brother!"

TroutDog said...

yeah, I caught that too. Best thing Baseball Tonight has ever done, period. And yes, I too started welling up a bit. Thank you ESPN, hella cool!
