Breaking Bad Hockey

After three days off, I was really looking forward to watching some Avs hockey tonight. That didn't last too long. Although they came out with some pretty strong energy in the first few minutes, that quickly turned into sloppy turnovers and easy goals for the Ducks. Now is not the time to drop consecutive games (if you can remember all the way back to Wed's loss to Calgary) when seemingly every other team in the Western Conference playoff race never loses. Combining this latest Avs loss with a Nuggets home loss to Milwaukee last night, and some rare DU hockey ineptitude, the last two nights makes for a pretty lousy Denver sports weekend (at least the Rockies 'tied' their Cactus League game this afternoon). Here's to America's favorite meth dealers and a good season premier of Breaking Bad.....

so disappointing. avs look to be setting themselves up for some late season letdown. no playoffs.
i've already watched enough broncos fold-jobs over the past few seasons. i'm sick of this shit.

Even though neither team were expected to contend for the playoffs this year, this would be a bit too much to handle on the heels of the Broncos meltdown. A two game losing streak isn't a meltdown by any means, but the way other teams in the upper echilon of the Western Conference are playing right now, it sure feels like it.

Another big game tonight.....

It certainly is amplified by the sustained high-level of play by the other Western contenders.

Much better play last night in LA. I guess Galiardi somewhat redeemed his astounding wide-open net miss in the 1st period (that would have put the Avs up 2-0) by scoring the tying goal with 7 seconds to go. Not sure what the hell Salei was thinking with that cross-check in OT either. Avs have been taking loads of bad and costly penalties lately.

Still, getting one point out of that game is much better than getting blanked on the short road trip. A regulation win against the Kings on Wed would be the perfect tonic.

Yeah, that power play didn't last too long.

Kind of have to give some credit to Stastny for that almost end of regulation goal.

Stastny definitely made that last play happen. Does Stewbag really have 28 goals?
