Boom, Outta Here....

After the way his (and the Avs') season has gone, this is hardly a surprise. Not sure we get much in return (Elliott from the Sens), but that probably doesn't matter much anyway since it was doubtful Andy would be coming back next year after kinda sucking this year. Elliott? Never heard of him. But some hockey nerd I work with who follows the Eastern Conference closely says the 25-year old has some upside. Until the defense gets fixed, it probably doesn't make a ton of difference who is getting peppered in net.

A real blockbuster trade...of shitty goaltenders.

....that had career years last season and who(m) have severely disappointed this year and will be free agents this offseason.

Two teams grasping at straws and hoping for the "change of environment" effect.

true. true. i grasp at straws as well.
probably not much of a surprise for either (dwindling) fanbases.
I guess until that young Pickard stud is ready, it'll be the usual revolving door of goalies.

and allow me to not be the first, nor will i be the last to say, their defense has been atrocious as well. as yer defense goes, so goes your goaltender.

missing the quiet (offense-less) presence of Hannan a bit. wasn't long after he was shipped out that this season got totally out of hand with the skyrocketing GAA and then the L skid....

Wow - Stewie and Shatner Kirk gone? Quite a shake up going on. Maybe this Johnson fellow can be the start of a defensive rebuild that is desperately needed.

Agree on the Hannan front. It seemed a bit odd to be trading away defense for more offense at the time. Still gotta think that his pending free agency was big part of that. That said, was liking Fleishman before he was lost for the season. With him and Mueller on the shelf with injuries, the two major trades that have been made in the last season appear to have been poor at present. Sure hope the Andy/Stewie trades don't go down the same path.
