Introducing Foxy Boy (Liquor Tan Sold Separately)
A defensive coach....I'm sure that wasn't an easy decision for Elway, but it was the right one. Dennison might have been the more fan-friendly choice, but I still have nightmares of when he was the Special Teams Coach for the B'cos and it was keystone cops every time his squad was on the field. I'm sure he's progressed as a coach, but hiring the more experienced coach, who has had some pretty decent success with limited means, is a sound move and should pacify the legions of fans that have been in an uproar since (insert lame McSomethingInsult joke here) took over. And you gotta hand to Foxy Boy, he can craft a fine liquor tan....

I kind of like it because he's not the hot assistant coach/coordinator coming off a Super Bowl victory. I kind of don't like it because the team he just was let go from has a worse record than we do. I kind of like it because he is a defense minded coach. I kind of don't like it because he is the last person I thought would ever coach the Broncos.
We'll see where it goes. Can't be much worse than where we just came from.
I like the Foxy Boy hire quite a bit. Good defensive background, winning record as an NFL head coach (if you take out last season, a pretty damn solid win %)...and he's not 30 years old and from the Belichick coaching tree. And there is a pretty good track record for NFL coaches having a better record and more playoff success in their second stint. Oh, and he took a 1-15 team to a Super Bowl within two years. The Carolina ownership / management didn't do him any favors in the past couple of years which kind of teed up his last season...which allowed him to get to the Broncos. I like. Hopefully Elway can shield Bowlen from allowing our ownership / management to suck and give Foxy the players to win. The biggest reason that I like him is that he will most likely give lots of input as to our draft / FA dealings, but will not be making the final decision. I would think this will mean no more Tim Tebow flyers in the first round and a pretty solid defensive draft. If he contributes only that and is an average coach, the Broncos will be much better off. If we make the playoffs within 2 years, and I'm pretty optimistic about it, I'm all smiles. But as KBF so eloquently put it, can't be much worse than where we came from. Let's just hope that's true...
Well put both of you. Like KBF, I'm not 100% sold, but like HS points to, there is plenty of reason to think this is a hire that can right the ship, especially considering his focus will be coaching. That in itself, is a big step for the organization. Honestly, I doubt I would have been all that fired up about anyone but Chucky (as coach only), which for many reasons would not have happened.
I'm not sure what any of this has to do with Buffs basketball.... ?
