wow
I'm a little out of breath and lacking coherence after that thriller.
Shit-tonnes of goals (Cody McLeod even tallied), dicey goal tending (TURCO!), clutch late game heroics from Duchey and the newly acquired Tomas F. Great win, seeing as I was calling for Budaj in net midway through the 2nd period. I don't ever call for Budaj. Ever.
The Avs are the highest scoring team in the Western Conference. Is that surprising? Tonight's damage was wreaked without Hejduk and Stewart. Pretty much the entire season thus far has not seen the full core of the team healthy. Imagine if???
Besides the intangibles your best players bring, got to wonder what would be different if the whole roster was available and in the lineup night in and night out. The lines thrown out on the ice still manage to win games and demonstrate guts and resilience - especially when down late. Tonight was a first class example. During the Altitude post-game, Keefe and Rycroft were pretty apeshit flabbergasted, funny when they are on the air but not really able to hold any train of thought together. Is that why I'm washing lettuce and they're making the big bucks?
The Blackhawks get a chance for revenge in the ass-end of a home-and-home Wednesday in Chicago....
That is, unless the Avs can throw another Elway up on the scoreboard, then I like our chances.

I think the popular interwebs response to the ending of that game is....clap, clap, clap.
Andy's performance, while hampered by some weird bounces and a questionable high-stick goal, was shaky. Especially considering Kane and Hossa were out. Very nice to still be able to garner a regulation win in spite of that. Shit, for several minutes I was praying for a point of any kind. Matty is clearly emerging as a star - and the timing couldn't be better with Stewie sidelined and the Duke now on the mend. Mueller wasn't even mentioned in your offensive injury inventory, ST. Kind of wonder about his future in general, but he can also score when healthy.
All in all, what was almost a total letdown after the fine end to the roadie, turns into a feel-good victory. As Rycroft was saying in the post game, Wed night's game should be mighty interesting.
Totally forgot about Mueller...he of the eternal concussion.
Mueller is no Favre. Probably not a good sign they don't even mention his return on telecasts.....
This is going to sound super anti-sports blog but I'm worried about what might happen to Mauldin and Dupris once Galiardi, Mueller and Stewart are healed up. I don't want to lose those guys especially now that I know that Mauldin had dreads or braids at UMass. http://www.umassathletics.com/sports/m-hockey/mtt/mauldin_greg00.html
well, coming from someone who inexplicably has dreads (wtf? i'm 42 years old and haven't cut my hair in two years and still hold down a decent job???) I agree, keep Mauldin around regardless of the pending health of others. (BTW those dreads are weak babies). Love the Dupuis too. Even if he can't muster up any dreads.
Stewart's return will be at the expense of anyone on ye 'olde roster. no questions asked.
If Mauldin leaves, I become a Red Wings fan....or maybe that should be Canucks fan nowadays. The dude is a forechecking maniac on the PK.
